Breast reduction, enlargement and reconstruction

Breast enlargement

The choice of the correct individual implant is of utmost importance. The protheses are produced in different sizes and shapes. Our aesthetic-plastic surgeons will inform you in a preliminary personal interview in detail about the treatment. The skin and the tissue are flexible. This is used in the operation. The prothesis is implanted in most cases below the breast tissue or below the muscles.

Procedure:
The breast enlargement takes about 1 hour. It is usually carried out under general anaesthesia. In rare cases it is sufficient to carry out the operation under a weaker anaesthesia and under local anaesthetic. The clinic stay takes 3 - 5 days. The breast will be usually swollen and oversensitive after the operation. This will limit the mobility of the patient for 1 - 2 weeks. The threads may be removed after ten days. After 2 - 3 weeks the patient will be able to take up her regular work again. Sports activities are possible after ca. 5 weeks. The final healing will take place after 2-3 months (acclimatization and normalization phase: 6 weeks), then the breast will also have almost its final form.

Breast reduction

An oversize on one or both sides or a hanging breast is not only regarded as unattractive, it can also implicate health problems. The skeleton is strained in an unequal way. This can, among other things, lead to a damaged posture, distortions of the spinal column, and pain in the back and in the shoulder. In addition to this, the person suffers from aesthetic and - in consequence of this - personal impairments. The breast reduction operation does not only include the reduction of the mammary gland but also the lifting of the tissue, the reduction of the skin envelope, and the raising of the nipple.

Procedure:
The operation of a breast reduction takes about 2 - 3 hours. It is carried out under general anaesthesia and requires some days of in-patient stay at a hospital or clinic.

Breast reconstruction after amputation

The breast reconstruction can be carried out already a few weeks after the amputation. The best time for the operation is 3 - 6 months after the removal of the breast.

There are numerous methods for the reconstruction. Each case requires an individual assessment.
