Eyelid correctionThe correction of the upper and lower eyelids is an operation that is very satisfactory for the patient. The only possible risks may occur when a too strong twist of the lid edges by improper i.e. excessive removal of the skin is happening.Upper lid correctionThe upper lid correction consists of a cut alongside the epicanthus and the removal of a strip of the skin, that was marked beforehand, and of small fat pads from an inner and middle pocket of the upper lid. The wound is then closed by means of either a suture below the skin or by means of fine small single sutures, so in the end there will be no scars visible. Lower lid correctionThe correction of the lower lid is not very much different from that of the upper lid. The cut is carried out slightly below the edge of the lid, the lachrymal sacs that appear in the form of distinctive fat pads will be removed, surplus skin and, if necessary, droopy strips of muscles will also be removed. Nevertheless, very often the fat pads are used to back up the muscle layers underneath (according to the Hamra method) to prevent the eyehole from becoming sunken. Procedure: After the operation your eyes will be dressed for about 12 hours. Then the swelling should be cooled in regular intervals with cold compresses. As soon as you are back home you should also rub regularly a heparin salve (or something similar) into the swelling and into any bruise that might occur.
