Liposuction

Where persistent fat pads resist to every diet and even sport doesn't show visible results, liposuction may lead to the desired result.

This method is often overestimated by patients. It is apllied in cases of problem areas such as belly, hip, thigh (riding breeches), hanging bottom or e.g. the neck when the patient has a double chin.

This method is not always to be recommended in those cases where there is also a skin surplus in addition to fat deposits. The droopy skin that would remain after the operation would rather create disappointments in the end, and in a second operation this would have to be removed, too.

The liposuction is a relatively simple procedure. This operation requires only a spinal anaesthesia that is gentle to the body. If the patient wishes so, he may get a general anaesthesia, though.

The so called "smooth method of liposuction" consists of three phases:

  • Phase 1:
The respective parts are being treated with a certain liquid that is introduced below the skin.
  • Phase 2:
By means of the Lipomatic machine or by Micro-Air and the micro cannula that is vibrating quickly back and forth, the fat cells are destroyed and they mix up with the injected liquid to a fat mash.
  • Phase 3:
Then the Lipomatic machine or the Micro-Air will suck the fat mash and the rest of the cells via the micro cannulas.

Up to six small cuts per skin region might be necessary. The cuts, that have a length of about 0.3 cm, are usually carried out at places where the micro wounds don't disturb the appearance, e.g. at hairy skin parts, the navel, or natural wrinkles. They are usually stitches with a single suture. These threads have to be removed by the doctor of your choice between the 7th and the 10th day after the operation. From the second day on there will be a swelling in the affected region. There may also occur a rising temperature or fever which will normalize within the next days, though.
